History of the pumping station In 1929, the City of Chicago built a new pumping station east of the channelized North Branch of the Chicago River to meet the increasing need for water in the neighboring Lincoln Square and Albany Park communities. Just over thirty years later, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District and the Chicago Park District began working together to create recreational space adjoining the pumping station. The park district soon signed a lease for 7.5 acres of water district land, and by the mid-1960s, playgrounds and greenspaces lined both sides of the North Shore Channel. In the 1990s, the park district began leasing additional water district land, bringing the park's total acreage to nearly 13 acres. --> Paloma Shaloma B. 1964, XALAPA, MEXICO Paloma Trecka was born in Xalapa, in the state of Veracruz, Mexico, in 1964. Her formative years were spent travelling around Europe and Mexico and living in Montreal where she studied Studio Art and Design for the Theater at Concordia University. Paloma was raised by artists and anthropologists and grew up in an environment filled with music, folklore and art. Her parents were also thespians that passed on a love for performance and pageantry. Her collage art is influenced by geometric abstract artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Eva Hesse and Frank Stella. Paloma chooses the artist name Paloma Shaloma to reflect her self-deprecating humor but also a deep affection that she has for her family’s Sephardic Jewish roots from Mexico. window pants

It has been a long time obsession of mine to take photographs of window displays. This one was a from a dry goods wholesaler on Lawrence Ave. I'm not sure when it started, I do have a lot of dollar store window displays in my collection which I will post in the near future.
